I have been using Scrivener for about a month, and I use it for creating a novel from scratch.
I´m very impressed with the program, it has everything I need!
Almost
What I also definitely need is the possibility to create a timeline.
I use the brand new and totally free online tool TimeGraphics (time.graphics/) for this, and that’s okay of course, but if I could WISH…
It wouldn´t be easy to implement I guess, but it would take Scrivener to a level of total cosmos domination!
It should be like “just another” view, that is, related to the outline, events and stuff, according to the users preferences.
Thanks for a wonderful application!
Welcome to Scrivener and its forums, Chrille.
It would be worth your while searching these forums using the word “timeline”. You’ll find a number of previous threads on this subject, and there are probably at least two things you’ll learn from your search. One is that the upcoming version of Scrivener - version 3 - will have a “swim lane” feature - not full timeline functionality, but a step towards it. The other is that many users of Scrivener - including me - use and recommend Aeon Timeline (https://www.aeontimeline.com), which is a very neat and versatile application that has been developed by a Scrivener user to work very closely with it.
Hi Hugh, I will definitely improve my forum behaviour
Thanks for your answer, will try Aeon timeline for sure
Chrille, I didn’t intend to criticise , just to help. I hope you find Aeon useful!
Yeap, Aeon is great, but TimeGraphics is great too. There are a lot of features in Aeon, but it’s hard to understand, why you recommend it i don’t understand. Sorry for bad English.
Aeon was/is developed by a Scrivener user, so it’s expressly aimed at syncing with Scrivener. As a result, there’s a large body of knowledge built up in both communities to help one solve issues.
People also say there are a lot of features (too many according to some) in Scrivener. Any decent program that can help you is likely to have a bit of a learning curve.
