… just released. Lots of improvements: RTF, Unicode, columns…
Also important is that this is the first stable release that is compiled for Universal support, so no more Rosetta. Also, the ability to view and edit attributes in columns of the outliner is something I’ve been wanting for a long time.
Not full Unicode though (unless, of course, I just don’t get it). Still can’t handle the Old English/Old Norse letters I need, such as ð and þ. Deal-breaker for me, I’m afraid.
Yes, I think you are right. The new format is internally RTF, so it can support Unicode characters, but the rest of the interface is still in the dark ages in that respect. You can type those characters into a note, but then you cannot search for them or use them in agent queries. I could be wrong on that, but that is what my tests indicate.
As I understand it, the way Tbx deals with unicode is still under development. Unicode text can currently be pasted into text windows (but not always document titles), yet entering text in unicode is flawed. I think these quirks will be ironed out over time. Just as image support.
Tinderbox 5 is way way faster, however, which made quite a difference for me with one rather large project. I do think 5 is promising, and I’m happy it has been released, despite some shortcomings.
Tinderbox 5 has a glitch that disables inline Unicode input. Tinderbox 5.0.1 will fix this; it’s already in testing.
…and I believe you’ll find that input glitch is gone in Tinderbox 5.0.1
Fantastic. Thanks for keeping us up to date here.
