Titles and Covers

Hi

[1] I want to add 2 text pages before ‘Chapters’ (One for book details and one as Prologue).
The problem is that after compiling and displaying the ebook, it starts the count of ‘chapter 1’, chapter 2’ etc at the first text page.
That way, when reaching to first chapter it displays: “Chapter Three”.
Is there a way to change it? Maybe add n+2 to the prefix somehow?

[2] I can’t find out how to add cover image to my book… Need your help here too

Thanks
Oren

I can help with [2]. You need to add the picture you want to add as your cover picture to the project itself. Best place is the research folder, or a normal folder not inside the draft/compile folder.

Once inside the project you can compile the text. Go to File > Compile or [Ctrl+Shift+E]. Select Kindle/Mobi oe epub format. Make sure you have Kindlegen installed if you want to compile to Kindle format.

In the left hand compile pane there should be an option for covers if you have selected kindle oe epub format. On the cover image drop down menu you select the image you added to the project.

Re [1] I don’t think this is possible within Scrivener for Windows yet but I will check, and if not not I think it will be possible eventually with the Front Matter function that is in Scrivener for Mac.

Hi,
I managed to handle the cover image issue  Thanks.
Regarding the Titles - Is there a way to completely remove titles from all pages? (That if it is not possible to make it work well)? Maybe via CSS?

Thanks again

By removing titles do you mean not generate a table of contents during compile?

I mean - anything that will solve the problem of showing the wrong chapter’s ID.
If it means to completely remove this headlines so be it…
Is there a way to do that?

I’m afraid this is not currently possible on the Windows version but is available on the Mac version so it will becoming to the Windows version eventually. Sorry I cannot tell you when though. It has been noted that it needs addressing.

See this post for further details. [url]https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/more-on-heading-levels/12343/8]

To completely remove titles from ebooks and other documents open the compile window File > Compile or [Ctrl+Shift+E] click on the formatting pane. For each level of document there is a title check box. Make sure these are all unchecked.

Hope that helps a little.

Hi,
How can I get notified for this update once it’s out?

Regarding the titles - I know how to remove the chapters’ titles. The problem is with removing the CHAPTER 1 - CHAPTER 2 etc. titles.
I must do it in order to publish the book…

Thanks again

Hi oren,

Major updates are covered by signing to to the Windows update newsletter http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener_win_pages/newsletter_form.html

Removing the chapter prefix is done through the formatting pane of the compile window. Click on the level of documents you wish to change (Level 1 etc) Click modify and a popup window will appear. Click on the Title Settings button and remove all text in the prefix box. You can also delete the text in the sufix box if you wish. Click ok to save these changes and the ok again to bring you back to the formatting pane.

Hi,
Thanks

I’ve been testing out Scrivener and ran into this issue as well. I hope the front matter feature will come to Windows soon.

I’ve been struggling with this as well. What I’m experimenting with right now is pasting the prologue onto the end of the title page. It’s an imperfect solution, and I look forward to not having to do it anymore (hopefully soon), but it seems like it will work.
