I pressed Ctrl++ to split my screen and it split. Yay. Now I want to unsplit the screen and pressing Ctrl++ again does nothing. How do I get out of split screen?
And there is also the icon at the top right of the editor that turns into a square once the screen is splited.

Also when in split screen in upper right hand corner of each screen on menu bar the split screen option is now an open square which when clicked
will close split. you decide which screen you want to fill the whole editor
As a note, what you intuitively tried should word as well. That the split shortcuts do not toggle split off, when used again, is a missing implementation, and as well the No Split shortcut should act as a toggle, bringing back the previous split orientation used.
In short, if you have one orientation you generally prefer, you should really only ever have to worry about one shortcut: Ctrl+'. It’s a bit needlessly complicated at the moment, and requires too much head space, having to juggle three different shortcuts in a situational manner.
