Too Many Backup Files

I have 573 backups for just ONE of my projects in my folder. I don’t need this many backups and now the folder is 4GB! Can I delete earlier files from years ago? I’ve already been using the snapshot feature so I don’t need these old files. I have my preferences set to delete backups after I have 5. How do I now have 573???

Yes, it is safe to delete old files.

Is the live project in the same folder as the backups? If so, move it or change your backup folder.

If the current working folder and the backup folder are the same, Scrivener will ignore your limit on the number of backups in order to avoid overwriting the live project by mistake.

Yes, the live project is in the same folder. Thanks for the heads up!
