When adding a new item from the templates, there are a lot of items that seem to be just random entries. Where do they come from? How to get rid of them?
Wow, is your manuscript folder inside your Templates folder?
If every document in your Binder has a blue “T” - icon at the bottom right, move the your writing outside the Template folder.
Or maybe you’ve set your Templates folder to your Manuscript folder in Project > Project Settings > Special folders. Create a Template folder in the root of your Binder and move only your Templates there.

that looks more like editor document history, not list of templates when try to add template from click options should look like below
try Navigate>Editor>Clear document history (at bottom) and see what left with

Thank you; you are quite right. 1) Correct, when right-clicking then Add, I see only the templates that I’ve added to this project. 2) However, when using Project->New from Template, I got all this stuff in addition to the previously mentioned templates. I accidentally stored some old projects in the template folder. 
Got rid of them, and now everything is bright skies
