Tool tips disappear after clicking Dock or Corkboard view click in Scrivener 3

Setup:

  • Sierra 10.12.6 (16G1114)
  • Scrivener 3.0.1 (966)

To reproduce:

  1. Open or create new project
  2. Hover over the icons for Doc view, Corkboard view, and Subdoc outliner view: the tooltips are displayed for each
  3. Click on the Doc view icon (or the Corkboard view)
  4. Move mouse away from icon
  5. Hover over any and each of those three icons again

Expected behavior

  • Tool tips should display as before

Actual behavior

  • None of them displays a tool tip now.

Workaround to restore tool tips:

  • Click on either the Doc view or the Corkboard view (not the Outliner view)
  • Close Project
  • Open Project

Note
In step 3, if you click the Outliner view, the bug does not happen. The bug only happens if you in step 3 you click on either the Doc view or the Corkboard view.

I can’t reproduce this, I’m afraid, and even if I could, it is almost certainly a macOS bug. I have no control over the appearance of tooltips. All I an do is set a tooltip for a particular control. So, my code just says, “This button has this tooltip,” and this is done when the control is first created. maOS handles the display-on-mouse-over. So even if I could reproduce this, there is no actual way for me to fix it. Sorry!

All the best,
Keith
