Typing lag after a while of use

All,

I’m noticing an odd typing lag when using Scrivener. I typically have Tweetie, iTunes, maybe FireFox, and Scrivener open. I write in full screen mode to keep the distractions to a minimum and maybe 45 minutes or so into my writing, the typing begins to lag quite badly.

I’ve tried to turn off other programs but it doesn’t seem to fix that. Anyone else having this problem? I’m using the NaNoWriMo trial version but I’m sure that doesn’t make much difference.

The machine in question is the last quarter 2008 white Macbook so it should have the power to handle this light multitasking.

My normal way of dealing with it is saving what I’ve written, closing out of Scrivener, and opening back up. Then a while later, it starts doing it again.

Any help would be appreciated. I love this software!

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

You’ll find a number of threads on this issue. Presumably you’re using 10.6, and this seems to be a problem under SL. Keith is working to cure it, it seems, but in the meantime the solution is to do as you are doing, shut down Scrivener and then reopen it.

HTH

Thanks Mark. I tried to flip through a few pages in this forum but must have missed the other reports. My mistake.

Hi,

I’m having the same problem and I’m not under Snow Leopard. Also, it only happens under fullscreen mode, in the windowed mode the lag disappears. Closing programs seems to help occasionally, but I’m on a MB Pro, so there should be enough power under the hood.

For issues in full screen only, check here. That may solve your problem.
