Hi. First timer here. I started with the novel format in Scrivener…basically just named a bunch of catagories in the three ring binder section and then started to write. A lag seemed to slowly creep in? Maybe it was all of a sudden but it didn’t seem like it. Now it’s a significant delay. Any ideas? Thank you!
Also worth noting…there is no lag when i open up word or my browser. It’s only in scrivener
Are you typing in a single large document? Have you rebuilt your search indexes ( File > rebuild search index)
As you mention not using images, I presume you’ve done a little searching, but I’d look around a bit more as there are other threads that have explored different causes and come to conclusions.
Here is a search you can try. For example, one person found their anti-virus software was slowing the software down for some reason.
What are you running Scrivener on? While Scrivener doesn’t usually take a lot of resources by itself, every object in your binder can be a unique file in the project archive, and Windows my be trying to do all sorts of things behind your back like uploading to one-note (I don’t trust it not to do that even when I have it turned off), indexing for search, anti-malware/anti-virus scanning, and if your windows machine is exceptionally sparse on resources swapping to disk.
Word loads and stays zippy because Word and Scrivener accomplish similar things in really different ways, that and Mircoslop is notorious for optimizing the OS for their own software.
