Unable to select "General Text"

There is a condition under which I am unable to select the “General Text” item from the script elements menu in the footer view of a text file in script mode. To recreate, do the following:

  1. Create a text file.
  2. Type CTRL+M to get into script mode (You may run into an existing bug getting a text file into script mode here if nothing happens.)
  3. Now type CTRL+SHIFT+M to get the script mode popup, and try typing “G”. Nothing happens.
