Hi
I have used Scrivener on my Mac for long time, very fine product. I use Dropbox to sync many different items including scrivener projects. Since macOS Catalina will/should/maybe will offer an expanded use of iCloud drive, I have considered to switch to this, but not really done it.
Now I am here again with a new iPhone 11Pro and Scrivener installed. It is however cumbersome to get most of my projects onto the phone since sync seems problematic (a project may be some GB in size). So i look into this direct sync posibility… and gets baffled. If I do not use Dropbox it looks like I may backup from iTunes???
What does that mean and how are you suggesting this should work?
Where do I store my projects in itunes
Where / how do I get them on my phone / iPad
I run macOS 10.15.2 and Scrivener 3.1.4. On iPhone it is IOS 13.2 and Scrivener 1.2.1
kind regards

Apparently with Catalina the preferred route is to share directly from Finder:

The new procedure is also documented in the Scrivener for Mac user manual. Search for the subheading “Managing Projects Directly with File Management”, starting on page 352. It’s pretty simple once you know where to go with it (it’s pretty much all I ever use myself, I have no need for syncing), especially now in 10.15 as you don’t need to load that massive and unwieldy iTunes program any more—just click your device in the sidebar.
AHAaaaa…
And looking into this logical option I find I do need sync, so I am back to Dropbox, which works fine on my iPad Pro… with 'Same IOS 13.2 … but I cannot get Scrivener to sync on the iPhone… it starts by downloading file list… but fails out some seconds later, and I am back outside Scrivener.
I have removed dropbox and scrivener on the phone, closed the phone (powered it off) and getting it back up I have installed Scrivener and dropbox and, as far as I am concerned done what was needed to make the combo work/sync. just as it did/now does on the iPad
But alas
So what to do now?
I have searched the forums but not found a remedy that solved this puzzle
kind regards

I have looked further into this problem, that my iPhone 11Pro will not load all the Scrivener projects, that loads fine on my iPad Pro!
I removed the large project from the dropbox sync folder and then there was no problem, as long as the project was rather small.
so my question is why this different behaviour? I use IOS 13.3 on both units and am aware that there are flavours in those two.
iPhone has 195 GB available memory and the iPad has 175 GB.
Settings should be the same on both units, still If I suggest that a larger project are added to dropbox the iPad accepts whereas the iPhone simply cancels out of the scrivener app
I attach screencapture of the statistics for 3 projects. the largest will not load on iphone
Hope you can give a solution to this.
The problem disturbs my linear thinking as a man … so it MUST be fixed
merry xmas

It sounds like you’ve encountered this ongoing problem:
From the thread, the L&L team have not been able to track this down yet, and since they’re on holiday break (https://forum.literatureandlatte.com/t/customer-support-closing-times-for-christmas-2019/48256/1) progress won’t happen before January.
I just posted an article on my blog about safe remote project transfer via iCloud:

The good news is that it lets you get at your projects from iOS without needing to be physically tethered to your Mac. The bad news is that it’s even more a manual process than Dropbox sync. I hope it helps!
