update says no internet connection

I have an internet connection and the other links in help, such as support bring up the browser and internet. Have Windows 7, and otherwise perfect internet. I have scrivener 1.2.1.0.

There was a bug in the 1.2.1 version, since fixed, that could cause the connection failure you’re seeing. To update Scrivener, please first uninstall your current version entirely (either via Programs & Features in the Control Panel or by running the “uninstall” program file in the Scrivener installation directory, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Scrivener\uninstall.exe), then download 1.6 from here and install it.

Uninstalling will not affect your existing projects, which are saved externally to the program (in your Documents folder by default, though you may have chosen another location when creating the project). If you wish, you can also save your program settings before uninstalling by going to Tools > Options… and choosing “Save Preferences” from the Manage menu button. After the uninstall/reinstall process, just return there to load the saved preference file.
