For my macbook, I bought the scrivener app at the end of 2014.
Is there an existing 64 bit version? If yes, where can I update?

Scrivener 3 is 64-bit. This is a paid update ($25 for existing users) since it is a major new version with many refinements and new features. Just follow the “Upgrade from an older version” link on this page:
