Hello everyone,
I just started using scrivener on my macbook pro, and I want to back everything I write in the program on onedrive so that I can view all the files from multiple devices etc etc. Scrivener gave me a warning saying I’m likely to lose all my files this way, but I feel like it’s the other way around.
Anyone else back up all their work on onedrive? Are there any pros or cons I might be unaware of?
You can safely back up ZIP files to One-Drive but you cannot synch live projects between systems with One-Drive, real risk of data loss. Dropbox is the only supported cloud platform for project synching.
You could use a system of expanding the zipped backup on the system you want to work on, then zipping again on completion. You would have to keep a close eye on the backup file sequence to ensure you were only expanding, working on and zipping again, with the latest version.
Dropbox is painless and works with significantly less risk.
Are you new to Scrivener? If you are, please do the interactive tutorial found under the help menu. It ensures that you understand all the basic principles of Scrivener and the basic philosophy behind its design. It will save you time and problems in the future.
