Using windows version, cannot copy text to another program

When I copy text from a text page in Scrivener, I am unable to paste the text into another program like Microsoft Word or WordPerfect. I can copy and paste text within Scrivener. I only have a problem when I try to copy the text to another program.

Hi AG00000, and welcome to the forum.

Could you please tell us which version of Windows your PC has installed? The full version number would be helpful. You can use the search box in the taskbar to search for “About Your PC” to obtain that information.

Also, could also tell us which version of Scrivener you are using? You can select “About Scrivener” from its Help menu to get its version. Again, the full version number would be helpful.

Have you restarted your PC to see if that clears up the issue?

Scrivener should allow you to copy its text and then paste that text into another program, so I’m suggesting the restart in case something is hanging in the background on your computer.

If you have restarted and are still seeing the issue, are you using any clipboard management programs or keyboard management programs that might affect your computer’s copy and paste tools?

Hi Ruth,

Thank you for responding to my question. I work from 3 different computers at different locations. Where I am now (windows 11 and Scrivener Version: 3.1.5.1 (2073405) 64-bit - 06 Jul 2023), the cut and paste function works without any issue when copying to a Microsoft Office program, such as Word or Outlook. However, I use WordPerfect for writing. In WordPerfect, I cannot paste without using the “paste unformatted text” function. When I try an ordinary paste which allows me to retain fonts and other attributes, the copied text does not paste. Bottom line, I can live with this. Unless you have another idea, I will consider the problem solved for now.

I haven’t tested with WordPerfect on my PC. I tend to use LibreOffice as a replacement for Microsoft Office.

Perhaps another WordPerfect user will stop by with some additional tips from their experiences.
