Hi. It looks like this very interesting function is a bit buggy in Windows. Following this tutorial ( Use Scrivener's Word Frequency Statistics to Refine Your Writing | Literature and Latte), I wanted to copy the word list using Ctrl+A but it does not seem to work. Anybody tried this function?
Indeed, apparently this doesn’t work in the windows version of Scrivener.
Can’t select a word as per the instruction. Let alone select all + copy.
The best I could do is copy a single word. You get no visual selection clue, but clicking once to a word and hitting ctrl+a ctrl+c copies that word, but that’s all.
Might not necessarily be a bug tho… as 1) your source ain’t Scrivener’s official manual, and 2) this might just be a function that is simply not yet implemented in the windows version. (At this point, since it is something not doing anything, as opposed to doing else than what is intended, might as well consider it as such for the moment. – Might even be related to Mac’s vs Windows’ OS for all that I know. Meaning that it might not even have ever been LL intention for that list to be copyable in the first place… Perhaps it just happens to behave this way in Mac’s OS)
No mention of it (that I could find) in the manual.
You are probably right. Really strange to be able to have that info on the screen, with no way to really work with it. It would be nice from L&L to tell us if they have any plans for this. I sure would find it useful.
Meanwhile, I have searched a project folder, trying to see if there wasn’t any way I could “hack” the file where the list would be stored. But I found no such file.
(The idea would have been to see if the file containing the list was openable in, say wordpad for example, and salvageable from there.)
If there is actually a file where the list is built, I’m sure one of the moderators will know.
…seems to me like the kind of question @MimeticMouton would most likely know the answer to.
The word frequency list is generated on the fly; there’s not a saved list anywhere in the project. I have however filed a ticket about the inability to copy and paste from the table on Windows, so we may be able to get that addressed–the nature of the table display is different on the platforms, as someone noted upthread, but I believe it should be doable.
Si… No news I guess?
Well,
there isn’t much to do but wait…
One day it might just appear in an update’s changelog.
