Ah…After posting this, I accidentally selected “binder selection affects” to “current editor”     and it worked?? Why this is not default…
So the first problem is fixed… but the font color bug still exists!
“Current Editor” is the default, you must have changed it at some point in your project, or perhaps experimented with some of the Layouts?
Another user reported the font colour issue but so far we have not been able to reproduce it. Does it persist when you close and reopen the project?
All the best,
Keith
I’ve had the font color problem as well, in 3.0 and 3.0.1:
If you close and then open the enclosing folder (C or D in this case) the filename font returns to black. But then sticks on white again as you click between the files. On reopening a project the font is black, but again, the problem persists as you click between the files.

I’m seeing white text in the binder document titles as well. But more often, there is no change at all to the background color of a document title after clicking on it. Creepy. The links work and fetch the documents OK though.
HOWEVER…
In the Preferences window, the sidebar clickable choices work only intermittently for me and often not at all… no background color change and no fetching of the indicated screen. No go. Nada. Dead.
Using a new project document or one converted from version 2.9 makes no difference… same troublesome behavior. Hope you can fix this soon as I like what I can see of this new version.
Unfortunately I’ve so far been unable to reproduce any of these issues. Hopefully someone will be able to provide me with a way of reproducing it soon. What happens if you restart the app? Does it start working properly then?
Same issue here, although it’s worse than just white text. The entire binder doesn’t render at all for me unless I resize the window, then the interface ‘updates’, but then stops updating after that. The preferences window also does not update itself at all, making it impossible to change any settings.
I used the application for about two minutes before the interface started going crazy on me. I’ve tried restarting the app, rebooting my Mac, deleting and reinstalling the app… nothing helps. As it stands, this application is completely unusable for me, and nothing I do restores functionality
I’m running Sierra 10.12.6 on a non-retina MBP Late-2011.
same problem here, scrivener 3.0.1
Unfortunately we are still unable to reproduce the problem on any of our machines. Does the problem go away when you restart Scrivener (fully quit and restart)? If so, please try turning on “Show internal error alert” in Preferences > General > Warnings and let us know if any errors are thrown the next time this occurs.
Thanks and all the best,
Keith
Scrivener 3.0.1
New project from a blank template.
Restarting Scrivener and it starts fine.
Unfortunately, as I say, we cannot reproduce it, and it seems only to affect a handful of users (otherwise we’d be inundated with similar reports), so at the moment it is very difficult to figure out what is going on.
Thanks,
Keith

This happens on any new project, even after resetting preferences to default. Note that this is happening straight out of the box, with no changes to any settings.
I tried a guest account with the same results.
Since the bug seems to revolve around the transformation of text colour, when displayed against a background that necessitates it being displayed in white for the duration of it being selected, I wonder if maybe toggling the Base selection color on background option off might be a good test. That would have the binder use the System Preferences colours for highlight (same as Finder). I don’t know if it would actually switch over to a more native code for displaying the highlight + text though, it might just be using the same engine with a different set of preferences.
I tried changing the settings in Preferences, Appearance, Binder, Options trying different combinations of “Show current editor document indicator” and “Base selection color on background color”. I tried restarting S3 with the different settings, but the Binder text still stays white font after highlighting.
