I think it’d be a good idea to catch the version numbers up. Am I correct in thinking that the Windows and Mac versions (and the Linux beta) are feature-equivalent? Aside from their different platforms, they are the same program? If so, then I think it’d be less confusing for everyone to have the versions be the same. e.g. catch Windows up to Mac on the next release, and have Scrivener 2.5 for Mac & Windows.
No, the Windows and Mac versions are not feature equivalent. The Mac version has a number of features that are not yet available for Windows. That’s why the version numbers don’t match.

And further to that, even after feature parity has been reached, the numbering will probably never be identical (except by coincidence). Each platform has been written specifically for that platform, and there is no shared code between them. Hence, bug reports and fix releases will necessarily differ between versions, and it would be of a negative impact to hold back one platform’s release if important bug fixes are sitting in the queue, just because the other platform isn’t ready to release yet (or has no need to in the first place), merely to keep a number identical.
