It’s called Loud Typer. No-bells app, but surprisingly well made. Beware procrastinators:
Apologies if the description appears in Spanish when you follow the link, that’s where I’m from. But it’s clear enough, I think.
“Dug” is what some people in Scotland call a dog. “Doug” is my name for the dog/dug. A happy co-incidence.
Final stretch and now I do need a rest. Lunches to make, legs to stretch, brain to unbrain.
For those keeping score, I’m at 2,113 words and about a third of the story to write. With a bit of editing on the repass, it should come out okay.
(FAMOUS LAST WORDS?!)
In other news, we now have 25 stories submitted, for a total of 48,602 words!
@pigfender - probably a daft question, but Bold and Italics are okay to use?
Yes, that’s fine, subject to the normal rules of good taste! If there are any special formatting sections, it’s worth flagging them in the email to make sure I don’t miss them.
Thanks.
Now, what are the rules of good taste?
My unofficial view:
Italics are fine for the usual stuff: emphasis, foreign words and phrases, titles of works, biological nomenclature, etc.
Bold is usually avoided in fiction, so probably best if you describe your intended usage so @pigfender case adjudicate.
Are italics okay for internal monologues? Should I use quotes instead?
Yes that’s fine. Consistency within your own story is the main thing.
You know, the normal ones.
Submitted.
Only 1733 words*, but submitted.
*PF said quality over quantity**
**I submitted anyway.
Mine is relatively short too! But I think it’s what it should be at this point. Last read and I will submit it.
It’s very hard for me to read something of mine that others will eventually read, I find.
My story is done Just going through it a couple of times for corrections and minor tweaks.
I must admit I’m a bit scared though, I’ve never really written (let alone shared) any stories before, and English isn’t my first language - but you have to start somewhere, right?
Hahahahahahahahaha
You forget who participates in these things.
Shaving 70 words off is really hard to do.
Still, got it down to 2998, and ‘all in the best possible taste!’
… And it’s submitted!
I’ve just finished my first draft, at a not-too-bad 3,303 words. I’m going to have a cup of tea and then do a first edit pass, which I’m hoping will naturally take care of the overage! If not, I might be back for tips!!!
