If your name is on one of these four posts and you’ve already submitted, then for some reason it’s not got through – please reach out so we can figure out which ghost, goblin or ghoul has got it!
And, please excuse me asking you to repeat publicly available information (because to find it myself requires me to scroll all the way to the top when I’ve only just managed to scroll all the way to the bottom), but when is the deadline?
Once again, the hard deadline for submissions is midnight on the evening of Sunday 27th October 2024, UK time. So, 23:59 UK time on Sunday evening is on time. 0:01 UK time on Monday morning is too late! Feel free to submit early. That includes weeks early if you’re ready!
Hi! Incorrigible procrastinator here. I actually have two ideas and am debating with myself which one I should commit to so I minimize suffering. But suffering will occur!
I’ll miss the deadline. I started ok, with an ok idea and got as far as outlining it in Scrivener. I’m sure the finished story would be ok. Not great, not rubbish, just ok. Then over a long and liquid dinner last week, I accidentally thought of (what I think is) a much better idea and story, which I’ve been fleshing out over the week, but it’s nowhere near finished. Hopefully it will be ready in good time for next year!
No ghosts, goblins, or ghouls for me to blame, I’m afraid. Just earning my moniker, “Prodigious Procrastinator”! Actually, I’m shocked my story is finished. I’m just fumbling a title and a final proof.
Thanks for the reminder. I actually scratched the whole previous idea. It was taken from a novel I’m actually trying to finish and will attempt to trad publish. And I was pondering just changing the names and the events slightly but then got discouraged as if they hear that a clumination of the novel is actually published online for free, they might turn it down.
I’m brainracking to stich together enough of a completely standalone story. Still have time though, and I actually have the creative writing course this weekend, so the mindset is fitting
Well, here in the Novel in a Day portion of the intraweb, we’re strong believers in the principle that Time Is No Substitute For Talent! If you’ve got a great idea and a weekend, I’m confident you can do it!
Finished my story last night. Needs one last editing pass today and some ‘indented paragraphs with three hash marks for extra lines here and there’ reformatting and then those electrons will be headed your way. Purist? Almost…
But perhaps it’s in their nature anyway. What with emails disappearing into the void, and web-sites mysteriously working, then not working, then working again. And with added Ai there comes great potential. Perhaps HAL was never a computer, per se, but just a badly configured and haunted web server. I mean, who were Apache and Nginx?
