Web links

New user here. Is there a way to put a web link in my Research folder? From time to time I need to refer to a web site while working on a document. It would be nice just to be able to link directly to the site. Many thanks.

There are several ways of accomplishing this, depending on the level of support you need. If you want to create a static archive of the web document (which can often be advantageous as web pages move around, links break, stuff disappears), just drag the URL from your web browser into the binder to import the page. This will create a document you can access even when not online, and you can give it all of the meta-data that Scrivener affords, such as its own index card, labels, keywords and so on.

If you just want a regular hyperlink, you can drag or paste a URL into a text document to get a link. Note that this uses Apple’s automatic link recognition system, which sometimes doesn’t work when a new URL appears in the text. You might have to delete the last character with the delete key and then type it back in, for it to be recognised as a hyperlink.

The third method would be use of the references pane in the Inspector. Here you can either attach URLs to the entire project, or as references for each individual document.
