Weird font rendering bug

As I was writing this morning, something suddenly happened with the way the font I use was rendered. I use Hoeflet Text, and have it set to 19pts. I was writing a text that was just shy of 5000 characters, when suddenly the font weirded out - hard to describe, but the spacing on the last couple of lines was all messed up, and after the part that was badly spaced, words were missing. I could keep tying, but nothing would show up. I copied and pasted to another application, and all the text was there. I tried creating a new document in Scrivener, but the same thing happened. Then I changed the font size to 20 points, and everything showed up fine. I tried a number of sizes, and they all seemed to work, so for some odd reason, 19 pts just fubared everything…

Weird. A similar bug was reported some time ago by Maria but I was unable to track it. Can you break it down into simple steps that will always recreate the bug even in a new project?
Thanks!
Keith

I really don’t know. I was just writing, when suddenly, BOOM! If I delete some text, everything’s ok. It just starts at a certain point and then freaks. However, I’ve got other files that are longer without problems using the same font…

Do you want me to send you a screen shot first so you see what it looks like?

Kirk

That would be good. Are you saying that this is still happening in your project? If so, could you send me the project? If you don’t want me to see the text, you can make a backup, then scramble the text by replacing random letters using Replace All, then make sure the bug still shows up with the scrambled text. If you can get this to work, you could send the buggy project to me at support@literatureandlatte.com.
Thanks!
Keith

From our correspondence, it seems to be an Apple bug. Kirk says he can reproduce it in TextEdit…
