What's an iPad worth?

The BBC is carrying a story about a teenager in China who sold a kidney to get money to buy an iPad:

Speaking as someone who has a “funny kidney”, to use a specialist’s words to me, I only hope that the one that the teenager has left keeps on working. I don’t covet an iPad, and certainly not enough to risk death for – even if I had two perfectly normal kidneys.

Martin.

Value is assigned by the individual.

Water in a river may have less value than water found in the desert.

To us an iPad may be trivial. To that kid it may be life changing.

Do I agree with him? No way.

But I do respect the fact he did what he could to BUY it and didn;t take the easy way and just steal one.
