When I click on either Insert-> Break -> Page Break or try Win + Alt + Return nothing happens

I am writing a book that has both text and illustrations. I am finding that many times my illustrations are ending up on a different screen than the accompanying text, or I have too much white space in a page where I could have placed more text.

I see in Scrivener that there is listed under the Insert heading at the top left of the screen an option to insert a page break. But, when I click on either Insert-> Break → Page break or try simultaneously pressing Win + Alt + Return nothing happens. There is no visual indication that indicates that a page break has been added. (like maybe a line or something between the pages) Am I missing something here? Also, I am wondering if when I do go to compile, if my page breaks that I have set will be honored. (Provided that I can actually figure out how to add them?)

Thanks in advance for any help.

See my response to your other post: Scrivener is not a WYSIWYG editor, and may not be the best tool for what you’re trying to do.

Use the View → Text Editing → Show Invisibles command to make page break characters visible. To actually see page boundaries, enable Page View from the same menu.
