When I drag and drop a file from Finder into the inspector bookmarks list, where is the file now located ?

In a Post, Katherine made 2 suggestions which I found very useful:

1- look at the interactive tutorial which I had not seen and is very well written
2- using the inspector bookmarks as a URL manager which is exactly what I was looking for. It saves me looking for a 3rd party app.

In the interactive tutorial you explain how to drag and drop a file from Finder into the inspector bookmarks list.
Where is the file now located ?
1- it remains in Finder and the bookmark is simply a path to the file ? OR
2- it is incorporated into my Scrivener project, similar to when I drag and drop a PDF into the Binder?

Are there shortcuts or main menu items corresponding to the inspector bookmarks menu which appears when you click on the gear?

thank you very much

See Section 10.3 in the manual for a full discussion of the Bookmark features.

Dragging a file to the Bookmark list creates a link to the file. The file itself remains in its original location.
