Perhaps a corner case, but when you rename the folder containing a Scrivener project there is no way to ‘Save As’. A dialogue box helpfully tells you the project cannot be saved and then hangs. The only way to close Scrivener is through Task Manager. File recovery is possible through the backup Zip file (assuming you can find it).
A dialogue box telling you you’ve moved the folder and giving you the option to ‘Save As’ would solve the problem.
Just don’t.
Not presently at my computer, but if I remember properly to manually rename a project:
Close Scrivener,
rename the project file.
Double click the project file, the project folder should then rename itself.
Else, do such operations through Scrivener. In other words, don’t play in its back.
One small tweak. It’s actually the reverse of this—rename the project folder ( e.g. MyProject.scriv to MyRenamedProject.Scriv) . Then open the project folder, double-click the .scrivx file, and Scrivener will launch, rename the .scrivx rile, then open the project.
Best,
Jim
