As I can see, after I had installed the update, it is not longer possible to include the cover picture in the compile for epub or mobi (didn´t try other formats). It shows up as normal in the compile-settings - but it is not included anyway.
What do I do now?
Install an earlier version?
I am using Win 8.1, if that is important.
Thanks, we are looking into the problem and will correct the update as soon as we have a solution. Meanwhile, yes, you can download the 1.8.5 version from the website and reinstall that over your current installation. The download link on the site will continue to provide 1.8.5 until we have resolved the issue.
Just an update to say the ebook cover problem has been resolved and the 1.8.6 download now available includes the fix. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Since the update, when I try to “add from templates”, it gives me options from my research folder instead of my template folder. Before the update, it worked fine. Obviously I can always cut and paste directly from my templates folder, so there is an easy workaround, but I love that feature and I am at a template heavy point in my project.
Is it possible your Research folder got set somehow as the template folder? Try using Project > Clear Templates Folder, then reselecting the correct template folder in your binder and reassigning it.
How do I reselect and reassign my templates folder?
Disregard my previous question–I figured it out. I can now add from templates again. Thank you!
Whoops, sorry I missed your earlier post. Glad you got it sorted!
As an FYI I am also having issues with the Templates folders “jumping” from one folder to the next. Sometimes mine is switched to the Research folder and sometimes it switches to a folder within the templates folder.
It will work one moment and the next it tells me I have no template sheets.
So it does seem this is related to the update.
And just as suddenly I have no problem at all…
It seems to have solved itself but I think it may still be worth checking out…
Thanks. If you find any steps that seem to trigger the Template folder switching, please let us know!
MM:
I need help! I already updated to 1.8.6 and when I compile the cover is nowhere to be found. Do I need to save the file in some other format or something? Please, I don’t know what’s happening. No error is reported or anything, the cover just doesn’t appear when I compile.
Thxs.
profesl, First thing to try is downloading the full installer from the website and installing that over your current version. Most likely you snagged a copy that had the cover bug in it, and just replacing it with the newer version will fix the problem.
I ran into the template issue today. I have had to clear template folder (since it keeps reassigning my templates) and resetting it to my actual template folder.
It seems to “drift” template designation to another folder when I move anything documents in the binder.
Does the template folder change during a session, or is does it stick for the duration of the session but is assigned to the wrong foloder when you reopen a project after you rearranged the binder? Is it specific to certain older projects, or projects that are shared via a sync service?
It changes during the project. I think it is when you drag and drop a document into different folders. I noticed them changing each time I did this. I don’t know if anything else causes the change at this point.
Is it just one specific project? I haven’t been able to reproduce this at all. Are you able to create a new blank project, add a few new documents, assign a template folder, and then watch the assignment jump around as you move the documents?
It seems to be just one project. I am primarily only working on one project atm so I didn’t notice this.
This also seems to only be happening with custom templates I have added to the templates folder. The original templates that I just changed a bit seem to be working fine. For instance, if I add a character sketch it adds under the characters section that I have highlighted to add it to. When I try to add one of the custom templates it is entered as an individual document rather than in the folder I have selected to add it in.
The template folder changes when I then have to move the document (right) so it is in the folder I intended it to be.
Hi!
I’m new to Scrivener and wanted to install the trial version on my computer.
I use Windows Vista in French and have downloaded the trial version installer but nothing happens when I double-click on this file.
Any clue or help would be appreciated
