WINE or native?

I’ve been using the beta on my Windows desktop for awhile now, and I intend to purchase a copy of Scrivener when its released.

All of my laptops are running Linux distributions (they came with Windows pre-installed, but at some point the Windows install on each of them failed, so…). I haven’t had a chance yet to install Scrivener on any of these machines yet, but I’ve been keeping a lazy gaze on this forum.

So, I’m asking the people that have installed Scrivener under Linux:

  1. How hard was setting it up?
  2. Is it officially supported now?
  3. How well does Scrivener work under WINE, in comparison?

Thanks.

Which version? Linux one was untar it in a directory in my path, make a shell alias, and go. Wine one took a bit of tweaking, but it’s nothing too difficult.

  1. Is it officially supported now?

Neither is, really.

Great. I’ve no complaints. Media playback doesn’t work, but I haven’t investigated installing directx native, though. I’ve had issues with the linux native one reverting to blank for all default colors (fonts, editor, and corkboard). I use the wine one more often.
