Maybe phpBB can’t do it, but I wish the forum would allow search by phrases and not just word by word. I also wish that when you did so, it would not “ignore” numbers. Currently, it seems quite impossible to search for, for example, “Scrivener 3”. The ‘3’ is tossed out and you get every hit for the term “Scrivener”. Gadzooks!
“+scrivener +3” in the search box didn’t work?
You can always use google. Find the URL of of the base of the forum. I’ll use URL in my example. The try
The Google search string of:
+site:URL “Scrivener 3”
With Google anything in quotes (even a single word" is considered a “phrase” and must be present.
With a minus sign in front (like -“Scrivener 2” ) must not be present.
I too wish that phpBB had better searching. I also wish that it would show me the posts in reverse order. I hate when I see that a post with 200+ replies is updated, because I have a hard time getting to the end since all of the replies are “unread”
Google may not work. A while back G was “not doing no harm” to the forum and robots.txt was used to kill them off. Give it a shot and let us know if it is working now.
It does keep the ‘3’ from getting tossed, which is some improvement, but still doesn’t really do what’s wanted.
