I have a project with short stories and flash-fiction. Publishers often want material within a certain number of words. Would it be possible to add wordcount as a column with label and status? It would make it easier to find suitable material in these situations.
The Mac version already has this but it needs to be selected from a list of items displayed in Outline mode. I only use the Mac version but is there not a small button/icon (">>" on Mac) on the Windows Outline that will give you that? If not you’ll have to wait for feature parity to be achieved.
Word Count and Total Word Count are available as outline columns on Windows too. Total WC sums up the words in a container and the documents under it, if that’s useful to you (as with a short story or chapter with multiple scene documents in it). In the interactive tutorial (a project available under the Help menu, or from the templates chooser window) has a section about this. Part 2, “Step 10: Outliner” guides you through enabling and disabling outline columns.
