ok. Last night I saved my work and closed Scrivener, just as I do every night.
This morning I got up and checked here, downloaded and installed the update, and then opened the program. I immedetly noticed that I was missing about 300 words (per the word count in the draft editor).
Luckily I have made a habit of several times a day and before I am done for the night of backing up to my flash drive. When I opened the back up on the flash drive, all the info was there. But I wanted to point out the issue in case I wasn’t the only one it happened to.
My words were all there after update, but I save my whole project folder in my Dropbox, so the update probably wouldn’t touch it.
Was 300 words the entirety of your last writing session, or only a portion of it?
I don’t understand how this is possible. The installer doesn’t touch project files - even upon uninstall?
Yeah, LAP, I was thinking the same thing. Is there a chance a save didn’t happen before shut down before?
Meleesa, have you changed the settings for how often Scrivener auto saves? Are you sure you saved the work? Did you open it this morning before updating at all?
It was a portion of my last session, I generally open in the morning and leave it open all day, the 300 or so words were probably around an hour and a half’s work.
My process before closing is always the same, file, save, file, backup to, then close.
when I opened the file this morning, the word count was off, in the editor, and I checked the last document I had been working on and it appeared that all the missing work was from there.
but it was all present in the backed up file, which by now has been saved over the file that was missing the work this morning.
