Would like Compile to open to last used Preset for Project

I don’t know if this is typical Scrivener usage, but I compile a lot in order to create notes to communicate with my documentary editor, usually send a few pages or a section of the script.

It seems that nearly every time I open the Compile dialog, the default Preset of “Custom” is the option chosen, even if I just compiled a portion of my script.

My minor request is that the Compile dialog default to the last used preset for that project.

Thanks, j

“Custom” just means that you tweaked something, so that the settings you are using no longer match any of the presets exactly. Compile does always remember your last settings, though, as it should do.

Oh…

Operator error. Apologies.

I am guilty of endlessly tweaking in a effort to figure out all of the possibilities in compile.

thanks for the quick response.

delete or move the thread, if necessary.

j

Operator errors are my favourite kind of bug reports/wish list items (because they require no work on my end).

Keith, On the Windows version at least, the compile does show as “Custom” even if you have made no tweaks from a saved personal compile setting though. If you have made no change to your “PF PrintBook” saved compile options it would be good if it showed that you were still on them to save you switching.

On both versions, I’ve noticed that changing the output type (RTF, PDF…) seems to flip the switch from the saved settings name to “Custom”. That’s a bit confusing, although I’m sure there are good reasons that it has to be that way. Still, if nothing above the output format has been modified by the user, is this really necessary?

I can’t reproduce that on the Mac version - changing the export type (“Compile For”) doesn’t affect the “Format As” setting. But almost any other option you change will change it to “Custom”, since as soon as you change one of the options, it is no longer the preset.
All the best,
Keith
