Writing a How-To

So, I went through the tutorial, and though I don’t remember everything, I got enough out of that to be relatively certain that this is likely to be a good software package for me.

I’ve decided to pull in my WIP (well, one of many! ), and I don’t see a how-to in the choices for type of document I want to create. Which one would be the best choice?

The doc is mostly prose, not unlike a novel, with chapters/sections, and the only thing that’s different is that, at the end, there will be as section that is a checklist, but in a sort of outline format, that goes down three, or MAYBE four levels, but no more than that. I’ve discovered that Scriv can handle the outline, but I just want to start with the right type of document, so I don’t get screwed up later, like what happens in Word.

Any suggestions?

Also, in a related (sort-of) question, when I imported a WIP novel, and then compiled it to export it as .mobi, so I could read over what I have, it came out pretty well, with one exception: no spaces or indents for each new paragraph. So I need to know, so I can get in the habit of doing it now, when I’m just starting to use this, what is the best way to do new paragraphs so that they either indent or skip a space when they are compiled into .mobi? I will copy this paragraph again a few times so you can see how it looked when I compiled it to .mobi.

. . . So as you can see, the only way you can tell a new paragraph starts is that the previous sentence only goes halfway across. I’m relatively secure in my assumption that this software is sophisticated enough to make paragraphs translate readably into .mobi, I just need someone experienced to tell me the best way to signify that so it can tell when it’s converting!

Thanks!
