I write in Spanish, therefore I use a lot of accents (á, é, í…). But I’ve noticed that Scrivener doesn’t always recognize the accent the first time I type it. What happens is that I type the accent but it doesn’t appear on screen; for exemple, I type “á” but Scrivener shows “a”. So I go back, type “á” again, and this time Scrivener correctly shows “á”. It appears to be a random behaviour; it sometimes recognizes the accent, and sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve already checked the keyboard (it’s in perfect condition), and the problem doesn’r replicate on other programas (such as Word or Outlook). I’m quite a good typing, as well.
I’m wondering if other international users of Scrivener are having the same problem.
I also have a Mac at home and, of course, I have no problems there. I absolutely love Scrivener 2.0 for the Mac, so now I can even compare the two programs and I’m quite aware of the differences. I’ve been watchful of my own behaviour when typing (just checking if it’s my personal problem or a software issue) but the problem remains. As I said, it happens randomly. Y can write an entire paragraph and every accent is there; but sometimes I write a single word, and even if I have pressed quite strongly on the keys, the accent won’t show until the second attempt. It’s kind of annoying, especially since I’m quite fast when typing, even in Spanish with accents and all, and this forces me to keep going back, again and again, to correct accents (self editing syndrome). I’ve noticed this because I’m actually working on a project on Scrivener, and I’m giving it quite a hard time (the only way to trully put a program to its limits ).
I can’t reproduce this in beta 1.3? I have tried all latin style accents and many other languages, saved, closed, and re-opened in scrivener. Which version of the beta are you using?
I’m using Beta 3, but the problem had already happened with Beta 1. Actually, when I saw there was a Beta 3, I waited before posting, hoping that the problem had already solved itself, or that someone else had mentioned it. Once I started writing, it happened again. As I said, it’s kind of random. It can happen in the first word I type; but it can also happen after a paragraph or two of perfect accents.
