1.4.1 - Error trying to run on Windows 8.1

I keep getting this error when starting the program. Has anyone else experienced this?
Scapple Error

I’ve seen a couple of help tickets from users who encountered that error.

On one ticket, uninstalling and reinstalling Scrivener resolved the issue. On the other, we had to tinker a bit more with some additional troubleshooting steps.

I recommend starting with the uninstall and reinstall. The steps I usually recommend are:

  1. Please use the search bar to bring up your PC’s Control Panel.
  2. Please select “Uninstall a program” from the options under the Programs header.
  3. Select Scrivener in the list of programs so that it’s highlighted and click “Uninstall/Change.” Then, please click “Yes” to confirm the program’s removal.
  4. Once the uninstall has finished, you’ll need to find and delete the Scrivener folder. To do this, open File Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\Scrivener3. Delete this Scrivener3 folder (right click, then select delete from the menu).
  5. At this point, please power down your PC and let it sit for a minute or two. This will help ensure that it has closed any programs that might be hanging in the background as well as clear out the memory caches.
  6. Please restart your PC and then clear your browser’s cache and your downloads folder to make sure you download a completely new installer. Alternatively, use a different browser.
  7. To download Scrivener, go to https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/download. Save the installer, then run it and follow the on-screen instructions.
  8. After the installation is complete, you can open Scrivener. It should display a small pop-up window that indicates the program is unlicensed. If you click the “Enter License” button in the lower-left corner of that window, you can enter your email and license number.

If that doesn’t resolve this Qt platform error, please use either the form or the email links on our contact us page to submit a help request.

And, if opening a ticket is needed, including a link to this discussion could be helpful for whomever picks up the ticket.
