Have you tried the steps in this post, above? Mainly we don’t have much data on why this is happening for some people. The crash report only says so much, but it does seem to involve left clicking. That is why the troubleshooting steps involve simplifying the system down as much as possible to see if there is perhaps a conflict with another open program, etc.
We just published a 1.5.1 update. Unfortunately we didn’t have any reproduction data for the crash, so there is nothing specifically done to try and fix it. But, it’s worth giving the new build a try, as we did update a fair amount of code. Keep a copy of 1.4.2 handy, just in case.
App Store version will be up in a bit, maybe a day.
Hi again Amber - I updated to the latest version yesterday and the issue happened again. Double clicking to add a note makes the app crash. I tried opening in safe mode and the same thing happens. I haven’t actually downloaded any new apps/programs onto my laptop so I’m not sure what might be interfering with it. I’ve reverted to the previous 14.x app again and it’s working fine. I’ll stick with it as I have another upcoming project to work on!

Thanks for checking that out. Pity to hear it doesn’t fix it, but I’m not terribly surprised either.
Same thing happening to me on an M1 Macbook running Sonoma 14.1.6
Opened the app for the first time in ages, things were going fine. I went to my iCloud folder to click open an older board and the app crashed immediately. Same “blinking” action when reopening. In the app store I see I was recently updated to 1.5.1
You should try a few different things, like whether new boards work once you save and reload them, or if moving this one board to another place (outside of iCloud Drive) makes a difference.
I figured a way to trigger the bug.
I started happening once I had set by default that all new notes should be filled in white. Once I remove that setting back to no-bg color, the app stops crashing.
Does it immediately start crashing again if you set the preference back to white? I’m wondering if maybe changing the setting did more than what the setting was doing, if that makes sense. I tried setting a default BG on new notes but didn’t have any issues.
Yes, I can confirm. I’ve tried multiple times to set it to a default white bg and it would crash each time I tried to create a new note by double clicking. Changing it back to no-bg makes the thing work.
Okay thanks! That’s good news, in that bugs that can be reproduced solidly like than are much easier to find and fix that stuff that comes and goes.
It’s probably going to be the same as the others, but if you could attach the crash log to a message to tech support, referencing this thread URL, I’ll get it added to the investigation.
@AmberV Sent. Best of luck guys!
