3.1 not allowing me to set shortcut for toggling bullet list

I updated this morning to Version: 3.1.0.0 (1450305) 64-bit - 21 Oct 2021. I was happy to see that the update allows you to set shortcuts for toggling bullet lists. When I go into Options / Keyboard and select “Toggle Bullet List” and record Ctrl+Alt+B as the shortcut, it shows the shortcut as having been set. But when I try to use the shortcut it just types out the letter B. Any tips on how to get this to work?

Tom,

I also could not make Ctrl+Alt+B work, but other combinations do work. For instance, Ctrl+Shift+A.

I suspect it’s got something to do with the Ctrl+Alt combination. I don’t see that used at all in Scrivener, so perhaps it’s verboten.

Best,
Jim

Thanks Jim! Probably one of the reasons I like Ctrl+Alt combos is they don’t change the defaults. Now I may know why :slightly_smiling_face:.

I also tried Ctrl+Shift+Z and that also did not work. But Ctrl+Shift+G does. So it appears there’s some gnostic rules about what key combinations are allowed …

Works for me if I first click the “Record” button.

BClarke—so interesting! I also hit the Record button, and it shows the shortcuts as having been saved, but they don’t work for me.

I was hasty and didn’t read your message well. And you are right, the keystroke gets saved, but when it is used, nothing toggles and I just get a capital “B” displayed.
