When I do a split selection on a text, i can only make visible snapshots in the original doc. If a do a snapshot on the splitted part, its there, but the date and title in the inspector is invisible
When you split a text (with one of the choices in Documents āø Split), the snapshots will not be copied into the second half of that operation. While you could debate which should have them, it doesnāt make sense for them all to, as that would cause the project size to bloat unnecessarily.
That said, I donāt understand what you mean by saying that it is there, but the title and date is invisible. There should be nothing at all, in the second half.

I know. I talk about doing a new snapshot in the second half. The snapshot text is visable in the inspector, but not the date and titel. I should also add - its only in revision mode and I have changed revision color manually. Mac osx tahoe. 26.01
Okay, thanks for the clarification. Iāve rebooted to macOS 26. Here is what I am trying then, based on your description:
-
I create a new project from āBlankā to test with.
-
I type the following into the starter text item.
This is the first line. This is the second line.Of note, at the beginning of the second line, I turn on Revision Level 1, so it appears in red.
-
Iām not sure if I should have the inspector open to snapshots or if I should have snapshots in the first item yet, so Iām kind of guessing here. I tried a few different things, but for this test I use
Navigate āø Inspect āø Snapshotsso I can see the list. -
I press
ā5to take a snapshot.Everything is normal so far.
-
I double-click on the word āThisā in the second line, to select it, and press the shortcut for Split with Selection as Title.
The new item is created, with only the second (red) line. There are of course no snapshots listed.
-
I press
ā5again to take a snapshot of the new, split off, item.Everything appears normal for me. I see the date and āUntitled Snapshotā printed in the list, and the content below it.

So what would help is going through this checklist and pointing out any differences in what you are doing. Is the inspector open or closed? Do you click the + button instead of using shortcuts? Do you navigate around before trying this? Is revision mode turned on before or after splitting? Anything at all might be pertinent.
Also let me know whether Scrivener is in light or dark mode, and what your system accent colour is set to. Believe it not, that can actually make a difference.
Lastly, does this problem persist after reloading the project?
Can you confirm whether you use full screen mode? If so that might be the real culprit, rather than whether you have split the editor.
