A Note About Upgrading to macOS Catalina

Iona,

I did just that - used the private message on here and sent it along to you.

Hope to hear back soon.

Scrivener is now asking for my license code. This is on an iMac with Catalina.

In App Store I find a record of buying Scrivener on 1st december 2013. The version currently on my computer is from 12 december 2016 but this does not appear in App Store. Is it possible that I bought an upgrade directly from you in 2016? I can find no record of this, nor of the license code.

Also went to your retrieval page but I have changed e-mail address several times since 2016, also bought a new computer. Have tried several old e-mail addresses but none could be found.

What should I do?

Since Catalina only supports Scrivener 3, which was released in 2017, you should be looking for a 2017 or later purchase receipt.

If you can’t find it, please open a support ticket. We can’t address license issues through the forum:

Oops! Somehow I got the wrong date for the version currently in my computer. It is indeed Scrivener 3 and file was created 11 october 2019. Found the license key! Activation successful. Thank you.

As I have the same awful situation - what to do? To at least go and take out the material which is now locked inside the old Scrivener that doesn’t open? Please help. (It was the biggest mistake I did, to upgrade to Catalina, as no-thing important on my computer works now.)
Love, Miira

Scrivener 3 has been out since 2017, and it has been ready for this transition since the start. Even if you have no intention of upgrading and continuing to use Scrivener, you could at least download the demo version and export your work.
