A podcast template? + Bug fix needed in Windows, Dark Mode

On the bug list…

I’d like to request a fix on Windows, Scrivener 3.1.5.1, using Dark Theme. When I add a reference for Footnotes, in a Document view, you can barely read it, because the footnote background is a dark charcoal and the text is black. Can that be fixed to white text, please?

On the template…

I’d love to see a podcast template. The problem with a podcast is that all of them are formatted a bit differently. Some are just one person, some involve 2+ people. Some are just discussions on certain topics and others are documentary style.

It gets confusing and a basic podcast plan is in order here. Here’s what I think it needs:

  • Scripts. A portion of any podcast is obviously scripted. A true crime podcast, does need to read off certain points, at the minimum. Some may need to script quotes, and so on. What it doesn’t need are angles and such, as in the Script templates.
  • Chapters. Instead of Chapters, it would contain Episodes. This way you can easily refer back to previous podcasts. The “Episode Title” would be the chapter name.
  • End Notes. I know that this is a sticky subject, but sourcing information in non-fiction podcasts (yes, there are fictional ones out there too) is essential, at least to me. This would be a document inserted at the end of each podcast that can be posted online, alongside the podcast. It can also be used for helpful links, credits, etc., depending on the podcast.

Those are all of the suggestions I have for the template at the moment, I’ll reply to, or edit, this post with any updates I can think of. For now, I will try and build my own, but I’m not sure how to use a Script template or use Script Mode in a chaptered book. Maybe the options have been there all along and I just haven’t noticed, but either way a template would be glorious.

Thanks and happy writing to everyone!

That definitely should not be the default, and doesn’t seem to be for me, but you can change many colours in the Appearance options tab. It’s always worth poking through those sections, in their respective “Colors” tabs, when there is a colour you don’t like. Most are pretty easy to find, but this one occupies a weird twilight zone between “inspector” and “text markings”, since they highlight the text in the editor, but create a box to type into over in the inspector. So this one is found in Textual Marks, as Inspector Footnote Text. The background colour is right above it too, by the way.

Thanks, I’ll try that tomorrow. It appears to be a default for me, since I haven’t really customized it, except for Dark Mode. I’m always scared to death I’ll screw something up.
