Accessing a blank Character Sketch

I duplicated some character sketches and filled them in. I need a few more, but it appears I cannot access blank sketches now that all the templates have been filled in…only copies of specific character sketches. I’ve tried accessing blank character sketches from multiple places, but all they show is already built character sketches like they are now the templates.

Is there a solution that doesn’t involve copying a full character sketch and manually deleting the character info?

It looks like you’ve been amending/duplicating the character sheet template in the Templates folder, and that’s not really how it’s supposed to work.

The idea is that you create a blank template (or use an existing one) in the Templates folder (ie, for the Character sheet, one with just the headings), then you when you want to create a new ‘real’ character sheet you do so in another folder, such as the Characters folder – and you do this not by duplicating the template, but by using the New from Template menu.

So, in that menu you have screenshotted, all you should see is a list of one of each type of template (e.g. Character Sheet, Setting Sketch, Scene etc). So, without making any other changes, try going to the Settings folder and creating a new document from the New from Template > Settings Sketch template: you should see the a blank ‘headings only’ document ready for you to fill in.

All you need to do from where you are now, is to duplicate one of the existing character templates in the Templates folder and empty all the data out. Then drag the other ‘filled in’ documents out of that folder to the Characters folder (or wherever). You’ll see they lose the little T from their icon - they’re no longer templates but ordinary documents, so they will no longer appear in the New from Templates menu.
