I find myself swapping editors a lot so can I renew my request from ages back for an optional toolbar button to make the swap or, failing that, a keyboard shortcut?
I think you’re on a Mac (at least, your previous request was in the MacOS forum) - if so you can add the shortcut yourself in a few seconds.
-
Go to
System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts
thenApp Shortcuts
-
Press the
+
button and choose Scrivener from the drop down list, then enterSwap Editors
for the Menu Title and your shortcut in the Keyboard shortcut field. I usecmd-opt-ctl-x
.
That’s it – the shortcut should now appear in the menu. If you’re on an earlier version of MacOS, it may be called System Preferences and the shortcut dialogue may be in a different place, but it’s the same basic process. Just make sure the Menu Tile is exactly the same as appears in the app, otherwise it won’t work.
But if you’re on Windows, then apologies, I don’t know how to do the same sort of thing. You could use the alt+menu item letter
shortcuts, I suppose (alt-v-l-w
) – a bit clunkier, but better than using the stupid mouse for something you do often.
HTH.
On Windows the Swap Editor command is available for a keyboard shortcut in the File > Options > Keyboard tab, but it not assigned a keyboard shortcut. You can enter or record your own.
Thank you both. I do use a Mac and I never would have found the solution without your help.
You’re very welcome…………
