Hi,
I’m relatively new to Scrivener and have done my best to figure this out from the user manual and Google searches, but still stuck - hoping someone can point me in the right direction! Thanks in advance.
I’m working on a book project which has a document per chapter, which are grouped into three folders within the project.
My aim is that when I export for print (using the Print compile option and saving a PDF) the internal links appear as e.g. “Chapter Two (Title of Chapter Two)”, and when I export for ebook formats the links appear the same, but as clickable hyperlinks.
Currently the built-in “Chapter with Title” layout is doing a great job of starting each chapter with e.g.
Chapter Two
Title of Chapter Two
With “Title Prefix” set to the default of Chapter <$t:chapter><$rst_scene>
By moving <$rst_scene> to the “Title Suffix” field and disabling the option “Links use title prefixes only (exclude titles and suffixes)” option, I was able to keep that start-of-chapter appearance but get the output cross-references to read e.g. “Chapter Two - Title of Chapter”. Almost there!
I tried setting the “Suffix enclosing markers” as parentheses and running “Update Document Links to Use Target Titles”, but the output comes out the same.
Additionally, when I export as an epub, it is not a clickable link (I’m testing in Apple’s Books app).
How can I:
#1: Put the chapter title in parentheses rather than after a dash
and
#2: Get clickable links in the epub?
I’m using version 3.3.6 (16305) on macOS.
Thanks!
