Alternate font replaced by main one after compile

yes, i tested it on kindle, tablet, phones settings–the image is only the size of a portion of block text, well inside margins.

well crap. i need to check on that.

Perhaps you could play with the background color for those segments ? (Instead of inserting a fixed image.)
Perhaps that would work even with the color inverted. (Say you use some gray)
I don’t know how to CSS this, nor if it can be only for a segment of a screen, but it could be worth investigating…

Your options are to use a 50% gray and white outlines around black logos and illustrations (and drop caps).
The last option is not ideal for body text.

I use styles for anything I don’t want to compile as-is, and I only use very common fonts. I recommend checking what Amazon uses on their Kindles. I use Bookerly for almost everything (but it could be TNR, Garamond, etc.) and Helvetica for sciFi dialog passed across a 2099 version of the web. When I compile, styles remain unmodified by ordinary compile settings, but I can add an extra step to change those styles in Compile (at the Styles panel for each section layout).
