Any update of the beta coming?

15 more days until the current beta ends. Not that I’m nervous or anything

Be patient, it will be here soon. Looking forward for the few big pieces getting fully implemented. That would leave about two beta cycles of small issue cleanup. I’m thinking the release will be around August/Sept, and a few minor bug updates follow…3.02. Writing software can be complicated, especially for a large project like this that can be used in different ways. Fixing bugs seems never ending. This is why L&L is a good company, they have history of always being “on it”! Then there are the new features. Now about that night mode implementation

I’ve never seen them put out a new beta more than 48 hours before the old beta is about to expire. It’s probably a strategy to avoid having people report bugs for a version that is already obsolete because they’re not watching for new beta release announcements.

I wouldn’t count on a Sept/August release. I’m sure they want to release by then, but there’s always another bug in one’s own code, someone else’s code that you’re using to build an app, life events for developers, etc… If I were a gambler, I’d bet on November (based on the assumption that they want it out before NaNoWriMo but won’t be able to get it done before that event starts on Nov 1), or more likely in Jan/Feb of 2019. By then, the beta will almost certainly be usable, but there will be bugs that are serious enough to delay release, but obscure enough to be difficult to reproduce. Those will take some time to squash.

The new beta will be out before the current one expires, but it isn’t likely to be until much closer to the expiry date. Remember too, Beta 4 works through the 31st, so it doesn’t expire until midnight June first. If it eases your mind to know, I do have a big world clock with the earliest time zone ticking off when we’re working on the beta uploads.
