Applying format options to a new project

I’m sure this has been asked and answered somewhere but I’ve tried multiple searches and can’t find anything.

When I start a new project, I want it formatted a certain way. Double spaced, first lines indented, typewriting scrolling, split screen. I set this up with my first text file, but every time I add a chapter I need to do it again. How can I just have a format that gets applied to each new text file in a document? Thanks!

Are you wanting this format in the “source” where you write in the editor, or as the formatted output from a “compile” should be?

I want it while I’m writing. (Sorry, I’ve been using Scrivener in the most basic way possible, so I don’t really know any of the terms!) When I click the “new text” button I don’t want to have to go through and change it to double spaced and indented every time.

The easiest fix for the formatting issue is to adjust all necessary formatting in a document and then Scrivener → Settings… Editing → [ Use Formatting in Current Editor ]

The OP is a Windows user, so it’s File > Options, instead of Scrivener > Settings.

Oops. Thanks for chiming in!

Here is the main discussion thread for setting default formatting for new items (and projects), as well as batch cleaning up existing items.
