Associating text with a folder

OK I am starting a new project from scratch in Scrivener. Here is something I don’t understand. I am using the novel template. The Chapter 1 folder has a little icon denoting text is associated with it (there are text documents inside it). If I create a Chapter 2 folder and put text documents inside that I don’t get an icon on the folder denoting anything is associated with it. Am I doing something wrong? Does itmatter?

The text icon on the folder indicates that the folder document itself has text in it, not that it contains any other text documents. In other words, if you have things set up so that the corkboard appears automatically when you click on a folder, if you select that folder and then deselect the corkboard, you will see that the folder has some text typed into its editor (in the case of the novel template, it contains the formatted chapter title). Remember that “folders” and “text” files are really no different apart from their icons and the mode that is displayed automatically when they are clicked upon (corkboard, outliner or text), and you can convert between folder and text readily using Documents > Convert.

Hope that helps,
All the best,
Keith

Ah… so it’s the chapter sub title that does it. I understand now. Thanks Keith.

Yep - that’s it. No problem!
All the best,
