When working on a smaller screen I close the binder and inspector. Since the past two days every time I tap the Inspector icon to close it, or select it from the View menu Scrivener freezes. I’ve let it try to sort it self out for up to an hour.
I’ve checked through the forum and found other instances of the app freezing, but only a 2011 post involving the Inspector.
It’s quite a large project. I’m using pretty much every feature. Bookmarks contain linked documents and websites. There are a great deal of linked documents for each chapter.
Other than linking a PDF a couple of weeks ago peppered with comments and highlights, nothing has changed this end. Any ideas?
I have re-installed Scrivener. No change.
I’ve opened a smaller project. The Inspector closes.
I can only assume I may have reached peak linked documents. This would be a drag, as it’s the main reason I’ve been using the app, for research intensive projects.
Any thoughts, help would be very much appreciated.
It could be project size, or the interface has been corrupted.
First turn on the event log which monitors every Scrivener move. You can send to latte support for help. Go File>Options>General>warning.
You also clear interface settings to reset project. Forum has recent blog by staff about this.
What is your macOS version number?
Which version number of Scrivener are you running?
What is the file size of the project (you can view this in Finder)?
If you remove the newly added PDF, does that resolve the problem?
Thanks for this, GoalieDad. I appreciate the suggestions… I gave it go, but it began chewing up too much time trying to work this out. I’d prefer to look at other options than get into the weeds of my OS.
