Has anyone ever published an audio version of a novel on Bandcamp?
If so, I’d like to hear about the experience.
I haven’t published an audio novel. As a listener, though, I would be more inclined to go to libro.fm than Bandcamp. My mental image of Bandcamp is very much music-focused.
They have a Spoken-word>Audiobooks category. And you can self-publish.
But of course, yeah, someone shopping for an audiobook is NOT gonna think of looking there. It would rather be the author (me) promoting a link.
From what I could see, libro.fm deals with bookstores, not authors. (?)
It looks like they work with https://www.authorsrepublic.com for self-recorded authors.

Maggie Hogarth used to keep some of her older back-catalog titles there after she got them back from Audible. Admittedly I’m a little out of date, and she has not been releasing audio editions recently due to the RoI on paid voice talent (and she refuses to use AI for that).
MCA Hogarth is the author that went against Games Workshop and won, as her “Spots the Space Marine” had offended the Warhammer 401k folks, but in the end the courts decided that “Space Marine” was too generic for trade dress and copyright protections, and “Spots the Space Marine” was specific enough to protect.
