AWT First Novel

Hi, writers.
I am writing my first novel, and I am developing my writing method as I navigate my way through the maze. I was hoping to get some idea of what other writers do to realise their creative desires.
That is all. The end.

Dear AWThawe,

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your project!

A search of these forums will turn up for you lots of discussion by the good folks here – about method, combat with or placating of the Muses, etc. – that may capture your interest.

Thanks gr! Much appreciated. Have a great week, AWT.

Welcome to our community, AW. I am constantly pleasantly surprised by the depth of wisdom that fellow writers are willing to contribute. The cool thing is that you can ask questions not just about Scrivener, but about craft challenges you might be facing.

What’s your biggest challenge right now?

Hi, SCN. Thanks for your reply to my post - much appreciated.
Re-‘biggest challenge’: knowing if my writing is set out correctly. I’ve had trouble with deciding how long a paragraph should be. I was looking at what I’ve written so far in my novel, ‘B17’, and thinking there were way too many paragraphs. My writing looked more like a technical paper and not a novel. I’ve been playing around with the ideas, and so I thought some of the more experienced novelists in the group may be able to share their own experience.

I have been waiting for more experienced fiction writers to jump in. I’m new to fiction writing and should not be giving writing advice; rather, like you, I hope to learn from my more experienced colleagues.

That said, I did venture forth on the topic of paragraph length just now in this thread. I honestly do not think it’s helpful writing advice because I do not even know how to explain how I perceive musicality in writing prose.
